I had taken up porcelain painting since last year. It is out of interest that I had taken. All along, I have always been fascinated with art painting and deep down inside me, I have always believe that I should be able to draw, especially abstract art. For many years, I didn't pursue my passion. Then by chance, I met an artist during one of my traveling trip. She was a porcelain painter and teacher. A group of us traveling in the group decided to form a class and take lessons from her. Best of all, the teacher stays very near to my home. From then, I being my first art lesson and I continue till now. I am still loving it and learning. However, I realize that porcelain painting is a very expensive hobby. Firstly you have to buy all the porcelain wares, some can be very expensive. You also need a kiln to fire your porcelain so you will have to either buy one (very expensive which I can't afford) or get your teacher to fire for you. For each piece of art, you have to have many fires before it is finished. Also, to improve your skills you have to attend workshops either locally or overseas and it is not cheap. I hope that one day, I can go on to canvas painting. I felt that for canvas painting, I can paint anytime that I want, be on my own and doesn't need to depend on some one with a kiln. I guess it will be less expensive to do canvas painting.
