during the daytime, the firefiles remain inactive and spend their time resting on the undersides of the berembang leaves. as for the larvae, their habitat is further in from the riverbank, where sago and other palm trees grow. they prey at night on snails (Cyclotropis carinata) that also live in this habitat. the snails, which have an average size of less than a centimetre, can be found abundantly in the daytime under decaying palm fronds and grass.
